METRO TRAINS

History about metro trains

The transportation problem in India drew the attention of city planners and also the government of India. As the population of India is massive, there had to be some way to cope up with the transportation problems. With a view to find out an alternative for these sufferings of the people of India, Dr. B. C. Roy, the chief minister of West Bengal was the first person to give the idea of building an underground railway. This foundation was first laid by Smt. Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India and the construction work started in December 1973. In India, underground trains are called ‘metro’, in London they are called ‘Tubes’ and in America are known as ‘Subways’. In London, metro trains have started almost a hundred years ago.

Construction

The construction of the metro trains is very complex. Engineers have applied many new technologies in the fields of civil, electrical, signaling and telecommunication. Some engineers adopted advanced technologies in he following fields for the first time.

Needs

The metro train is a convenient way of transportation. The metro trains are super fast. They are environment friendly, financially affordable and economical. They are also attractive to the passenger.

Advantages

There are many advantages of the metro trains. They carry the same number of people as much as 25 private cars do. They are reliable, safe and comfortable. They reduce the traveling time by 50 to 75% as compared to road. It decreases the noise levels and is eco-friendly. It is also energy efficient. So it is recommended to travel in metro trains.

Once a king had announced that whoever could bring a thing which could neither be wet nor be burnt, will be awarded a prize of five hundred gold coins. Everybody was talking about this competition. At the day of competition every inch of the court was filled with people. Then a boats man presented a lotus which could never be wet but it could be burnt. A sculptor brought a stone statue but it could get wet. After that many people come but no one succeeded. At last a youth came and said that he did not have anything but he was making it in front of everybody. He went in a corner where sunlight was falling. He kept the hand in such a way that the shadow would fall on the wall. This could neither get wet nor be burnt. The king was very happy and rewarded the man and also made the man his minister.

THE SECRET SEVEN-THE FIERY ADVENTURE
- Review by Aishani

The secret seven once went to Professor William's house to explore his new telescope. Through the telescope they saw their friend farmer Dick's house, a party going on near by and many other things. When it was Jack's turn to see through the telescope, he saw that farmer Dick's house was on fire and a man was limping and trying to run away from there. So Colin and Peter called the fire bridge and the cops. They also warned the farmer who was enjoying the party. They all also went there along with the cops. Jack explained to the farmer and his wife how the man looked. The farmer immediately recognized that it was Jamey, their servant, whom they had sent off as he was found stealing. Jamey was caught. The police also gave the secret seven a reward for their bravery.

Global Warming

Are we all not concerned with Global Warming? Everyday we find news of earthquakes, floods, forest fires and other natural calamities. Even, man-made problems like war. We should all work hard to stop the earth from suffering. Here is a piece I just wrote on Global Warming on kidsfreesouls.com
- Aishani
GLOBAL WARMING
Our earth was very beautiful earlier. But just see it now. A lot of devastation of forests, mindless industrialization, air pollution, aviation and transportation caused due to man has increased the atmospheric concentration of carbon-dioxide by 31%. Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the earth' s near surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation in future. Scientists have found out that due to man's sins and crimes, the world's season circle is changing rapidly. The world is getting hotter and hotter day by day. The big glaciers of Antarctica and the Arctic Circle are melting rapidly due to which there will be less water in the rivers every year. Ocean warming is making sea–level rise and coastal flooding. It is all happening because we, the human beings have progressed so much that that we hardly bother about the environment. The pollution, especially the carbon-dioxide gas which is generated from smoke from factories, cars, planes etc. is the main reason for global warming. So, if we want to live a better life, then we must preserve our forests, must use renewable energy sources such as wind and solar and preserve our nature.
